Family of 5 Likely Killed By Escaped Texas Inmate, Identified: Students Of Tomball ISD

Family of 5 walked into ambush at their weekend vacation home, believed to be killed by escaped Texas inmate while on the run from authorities, have been identified.

(Tomball, TX) – A grandfather and his four school-aged grandsons, believed to be killed by escaped Texas inmate, have been identified as 66-year-old Mark Collins, 18-year-old Waylon, 16-year-old Carson, 11-year-old Hudson, and 11-year-old Bryson.

The four children were students at Tomball ISD. The district sent a letter to families on Friday morning sharing the devastating news and is offering grief counseling to students affected by the tragedy.

Authorities with the Texas Department of Public Safety says Texas murder capitalist, Gonzalo Lopez escaped on Thursday in the Leon County area where he escaped custody on May 12. Local authorities received a phone call from a concerned family member saying they had not heard from their elderly relative who was later identified at 66-year-old Mark Collins.

Following the phone call, authorities went to the residence where they found the four children, and their grandfather murdered. It is believed that Gonzalo Lopez murdered them before taking off in the stolen white Chevrolet Suburban.

Once the stolen vehicle was spotted, law enforcement ran spikes across the road, which led to the car crashing, Lopez pulling a firearm, and law enforcement returning fire striking Lopez dead.

Tomball ISD and it’s community are in mourning and have joined together to assemble balloons, flowers, and memorabilia at their Centerville vacation home where they were killed.
